Post op

on

I’m alive!

I had my fibroid op and I’m now in recovery. I’ll have time during the week to update so meanwhile here are a few pics that sum up my experience…

Sexy hospital knickers. I mean, I don’t know how anyone could keep their hands off me in these. 😂

Sexy anti embolism socks. And slipper socks. And open backed hospital gown. I am just SO attractive.

My post op meal! Hurrah! Nothing for almost a whole day so I was starving. Went in for op at 15:00 and had this around 18:00. I ordered lots and T helped!

That’s all folks. I’m in recovery now and feeling fine. I really thought I’d be a lot more groggy. Off home to recover – I have the week off so will do another update soon.

  3. Arrgggh! I had been meaning to ask you the date of your op PRIOR to it actually happening but never got to it! I’m sorry. 😦 But I am glad that you’ve made it through and are recovering now. Shall I send you some cheetos to help with the pain? 😉 I left Florida this past Sunday and the whole state is ready and waiting for your visit later this month! You are getting so close!!

Really don’t worry about the op – you’ve had lots to be dealing with! I don’t need Cheetos as you know I’ll be buying them by the bucketload when we get there! 🙂 I hope that everything is getting better for you. Sending you love xx

Haha! I know right? They are just so… Eek! Also don’t know how they get them to fit everyone (as they don’t really fit anyway). I had some lovely mesh ones post op… They were horrific! 🙂

  12. Hi, I never commented on your blog before, but have been following your story from the very first post. My first IVF cycle was only a few weeks after yours, and it really helped me reading your experience. I was very sorry when you miscarried too. Just want to wish you a fast recovery and a healing trip to the U.S. I’ve always taken trips after my losses and think it helps a little. Hope you can start trying again soon.

Oh wow, welcome! Thanks so much for stopping by. I am glad that my experience helped you. I definitely found it helpful to follow others’ journeys. Thank you for the get well wishes. You’re right, trips help. We had a short break directly after / during the miscarriage and it was very healing to get away. We’ve been wanting to go to the Magic Kingdom for ages (we go to Paris every year!) so it will be amazing. The doc said we can start trying again straight away (well, when I feel up to it, maybe not today!) so that’s good news. We have our IVF #2 appointment in November so maybe a Christmas not drinking! I hope you are okay – sending you hugs. X

Ha! Yes I ordered a lot of it!!!! T ate half of it! The nurse said that I should order more rather than less – you have to pass water and eat and drink before they’ll discharge you, and I did that with ease! 😉

  15. That’s a very decent post op spread! Is that genuine hospital food? (As in NHS hosp. or were you in private?)

Haha, private hospital… Not sure the NHS stretches to sandwiches on demand and a cheese plate (and ice cream!). I was on the NHS waiting list but I would only have had the first consultation yesterday – the waiting list is so long. I have BUPA through work – I pay for it but it’s a good deal. So I’ll have to pay a bit for the excess (I think ÂŁ100) but it is worth it not to have to wait 6 months for the op.

Haha, I do find them really difficult to deal with though. I’ve had this policy for three years and it’s the first time they’ve let me claim (after a long delay). They aren’t as easy to deal with as some of the other insurers – they always try and get out of it!

      3. I didn’t have that experience with them. I should really go back to private health insurance, but I felt like I have too many pre-existing conditions for it to be worth it. And now I’m facing gynae/infertility problems which could have been covered so I’m stuck with NHS and paying through the nose. Even if I got insurance today, this is now a pre-existing condition. Wah!!

Yeah, they are a pain – most of the insurers won’t cover anything to do with fertility. Mine is because of heavy periods. I mean, my periods are debilitating – I have to use the heaviest flow tampons and a pad, and I still get leaks for two days a month. It’s horrific!
